movie review: taxidermia

synopsis:
Follows three men from three generations of a family. Lajos, the young artist talks about defencelessness and loneliness: he tells the story of his grandfather, the awkward batman of a ruthless captain in the 2nd World War, who is just longing for being loved. He also talks about ambitions and frustrations, telling the story of his father, Kalman, his mystical birth and his career as a professional sportsman during the socialist era. He just wanted to be famous, to win the Olympic Games in L.A., but as it is known, the socialist countries didn't take part in the games. And finally Lajos talks about himself, the 'sculptor of organic material', who is being loved, who is famous, but who is just craving for eternity. He wants to create the most perfect work of art of all times: to stuff himself.

my say:
the movie isn't really a film about taxidermists as the name suggests. i feel that it's a movie with very varied genre, and in fact, i couldn't tell what message's the director trying to bring across to the audience when the whole movie ended. what i can say is that this movie's very disgusting, gory and at times disturbing. in the first plot, this movie's about fire spurting penis, tits, breast, dick, vagina, masturbation, real sex... in the second plot, it's about gorging yourself with food then puke everything out, and eat again, and puking, and eating and puking. the third was about removing internal organs, stuffing things into the skin....gross. i really had no clue what was actually going on. perhaps this movie's a wee bit too complicated for this simple mind of mine...
