laksa steamboat and marina keppel bay

with sherry and gan...
laksa steamboat at 404, telok blangah rd. worth trying.
the lasksa soup base is one of a kind in singapore.
it's not buffet style though, pay as you eat.
the free flow of laksa soup is not too diluted or rich, just nice.
the ingredients are very fresh, esp the seafood.
they also serve 'zichar' food for those who didn't like steamboat.
for 3 of us, we spent around $65... well, it's not really that cheap, we thought.

after that, went to keppel bay for a drink.
ah, bumped into fiona, michelle, mae and kelly,
what a coincidence... hehe...
nice atmosphere and scenary i can say...

i just wanna work out in peace

to the sweating man in the sauna:

we wouldn't want to know how much u can perspire...
it's digusting!!!

perankan museum visit

went to the perankan museum today. with only 3 stories,
it's kinda small compared to asian civilisation museums at empress place
and singapore national museum.

books written by peranakan authors

baju kurung. they wore this during traditional peranakan wedding.

the original british made zig-saw puzzle.
very difficult task with no image for reference

this is the mould for kueh kueh making

the peranakans' culture's largely influenced
by the european.

wow, old school type writer...

movie review: taxidermia

synopsis:
Follows three men from three generations of a family. Lajos, the young artist talks about defencelessness and loneliness: he tells the story of his grandfather, the awkward batman of a ruthless captain in the 2nd World War, who is just longing for being loved. He also talks about ambitions and frustrations, telling the story of his father, Kalman, his mystical birth and his career as a professional sportsman during the socialist era. He just wanted to be famous, to win the Olympic Games in L.A., but as it is known, the socialist countries didn't take part in the games. And finally Lajos talks about himself, the 'sculptor of organic material', who is being loved, who is famous, but who is just craving for eternity. He wants to create the most perfect work of art of all times: to stuff himself.

my say:
the movie isn't really a film about taxidermists as the name suggests. i feel that it's a movie with very varied genre, and in fact, i couldn't tell what message's the director trying to bring across to the audience when the whole movie ended. what i can say is that this movie's very disgusting, gory and at times disturbing. in the first plot, this movie's about fire spurting penis, tits, breast, dick, vagina, masturbation, real sex... in the second plot, it's about gorging yourself with food then puke everything out, and eat again, and puking, and eating and puking. the third was about removing internal organs, stuffing things into the skin....gross. i really had no clue what was actually going on. perhaps this movie's a wee bit too complicated for this simple mind of mine...

he...

he is always cold towards his family members, but not the same when it comes to outsider.
he does not respond when his dad talk to him, at most just nod or uhm.
he does not take part in discussion or initiate talks during family meals, just sit quietly.
he seldom dines with his parents, he doesn't know these are simple things parents yearn for.
he always comes home late at night, he doesn't know that his parents have sleepless nights.
he drive recklessly while thinking he has good driving skills, his parents are worried.
he cannot take it when his family make comments about him, as he is too proud of himself.
he always think very lowly of other people, but he doesn't know that he's not perfect.
he will not accept negative feedbacks or take criticisms, and love to receive compliments only.
he finds excuses for everything, he is irresponsible.
he will look for his dad when he faces problem, but when problem is solved, he will forget.
he does not contribute to family matters, but only the passive recipient.
he always think he's right about everything, coz he is not humble at all.
he will procrastinate and is sloppy about family matters, he is not pro-active.
he is very willing to spend lavishly on himself, but he is stingy on other people.

he just does not know.
he just does not learn.
he just does not know how to be grateful.
he just does not know how to be humble.
will he get a child like him in future?

one plus point about him: he is confident, very confident, eventually leads to over-confidence.
he is just him.

should we just keep quiet?
should we just let him be?
when will he change?
when will he accept?
when will he realise?

only time will tell...
